Are you passionate about India's natural heritage and the laws that protect it? We are looking for a Law Intern to help translate environmental and nature protection laws, with a special focus on their implementation in Gujarat, into actionable, citizen-friendly language.
- Study and analyze all Indian laws, rules and Gujarat state's government resolutions related to nature, wildlife and the environment. These are often in Gujarati language.
- Summarize these laws and legal instruments into easy-to-understand, actionable points in English for NGOs and general public.
- Your work will directly contribute to empowering citizens to protect our shared natural heritage.
Gujarat State's legislation of the following:
1. The Indian Forest Act, 1927
2. The Wildlife Protection Act, 1972
3. The Environment Protection Act, 1986
4. The Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980
5. The Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006
6. The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974
7. The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981
8. The Biological Diversity Act, 2002
9. The National Green Tribunal Act, 2010
10. The Compensatory Afforestation Fund Act, 2016
11. Any other law or legal instruments related to nature, introduced or amended by the state of Gujarat.
A lump sum amount of ₹20,000, payable upon successful completion and delivery of the final output.
The final output is expected within 3 months from the start of the internship. Working hours are flexible.
The intern can work remotely and have regular online meetings with Conservation indica's team. The intern is welcome to visit our offices (Baroda and Chotila) as well as field locations for an unmatched, on-ground experience. Basic but safe accommodation and food will be provided for the intern during the fieldwork duration.
- Law students or graduates with a strong interest in environmental law.
- Must be proficient in reading and understanding Gujarat state's legal instruments accurately as the intern will be responsible for directly working with Gujarat State's Acts, Rules, Exemptions, Amendments, other legal instruments, and Government Resolutions drafted in Gujarati language.
- Must be excellent in English, as the intern will be responsible for simplifying the above into action-oriented English summary points.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Interest in conserving nature and wildife.
